Welcome to the Modern TechNutDevs
Well, this is awkward. It’s been over a decade since the last post here, and honestly, the old Jekyll setup was showing its age. Like, really showing its age. We’re talking 2013-era tooling that made me feel like I was coding with stone tablets.
What Changed?
Everything. Here’s the quick rundown:
- Migrated from Jekyll to Astro - Because who has time for Ruby dependency hell in 2024?
- Modern build pipeline - GitHub Actions handles deployment now
- Single author focus - It’s just me for now (sorry Manny, maybe next time)
- Fresh design - Clean, fast, and actually works on mobile
- Better code highlighting - No more fighting with Pygments
What to Expect
I’m planning to write about the stuff I actually work with:
- DevOps war stories - The good, the bad, and the “how is this still running?”
- SysOps deep dives - Infrastructure that doesn’t make you cry
- Tool reviews - What’s worth your time (and what isn’t)
- Commentary - Hot takes on the tech industry’s latest obsessions
The Tech Stack
Since you’re probably curious, here’s what powers this site now:
- Astro - Static site generator that doesn’t hate you
- TypeScript - Because JavaScript without types is just chaos
- GitHub Actions - Automated deployments (finally!)
- GitHub Pages - Still free, still reliable
Why Now?
Good question. Maybe it’s because I finally got tired of bookmarking articles I’ll never read. Maybe it’s because writing helps me think through problems. Or maybe I just missed having a place to complain about technology.
Either way, we’re back. Let’s see how long this lasts.
P.S. - If you’re reading this and thinking “didn’t this site used to look completely different?” - yes, yes it did. That’s what happens when you abandon a project for 10+ years.
